We Went to Kenya. And We Left Part of Our Hearts There.
May 19, 2026Right now…
It looks like a simple moment.
A little nail polish.
A cotton pad.
A girl who just loves doing nails.
And a mom who doesn’t mind being the test subject.
But I See Something More
I see:
- excitement
- focus
- passion
Because she’s not just playing…
She’s practicing.
The Things Kids Gravitate Toward Matter
Kids don’t randomly latch onto things.
They’re drawn to:
- what interests them
- what excites them
- what feels natural
And those interests?
They’re clues.
It’s Easy to Dismiss It
It’s easy to say:
- “It’s just a phase.”
- “It’s just for fun.”
- “They’ll grow out of it.”
And maybe they will.
But what if they don’t?
What If This Is the Beginning?
She already talks about going to cosmetology school.
She wants to learn more.
She enjoys it.
And most importantly…
She’s choosing it on her own.
This Is Where Homeschooling Has an Advantage
In a traditional setting, there’s often very little room to explore interests deeply.
But homeschooling allows you to:
- encourage what they love
- give them time to practice
- expose them to real opportunities
You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out
You don’t need to decide their future.
You just need to:
👉 pay attention
👉 support their interests
👉 give them opportunities to grow
Because Confidence Comes From Doing
When a child feels like:
- what they love matters
- what they’re good at is valued
They build confidence.
And that confidence carries into everything else.
Final Thought
It might just be nail polish right now.
But It Could Be Something Bigger
A skill.
A passion.
A career.
So Pay Attention
Because sometimes…
The smallest interests…
Turn into the biggest opportunities.
