Second Grade Homeschool: What Subjects to Focus On

So there I was…
Holding a broken decoration
That literally says:
“Give Thanks”
And yes…
It broke during the exact month I had it out as a reminder 😅
The timing?
Impeccable.
The irony?
Also impeccable.
So let’s talk about it for a second…
What is irony?
Irony is when something happens that’s the opposite of what you expect
Or when there’s a contrast between:
- what should happen
- and what actually happens
Basically…
When life has a sense of humor
And homeschooling?
Oh… it has plenty of it 😅
A few homeschooling examples of irony:
- You plan the perfect lesson… and no one is interested
- The “quick and easy” project takes 3 hours
- You finally get everyone focused… and someone needs a snack
- You spend money on curriculum… and they learn the most from a random conversation
- The quietest kid suddenly has 100 questions at bedtime
- You try to simplify… and somehow make things more complicated
It happens
And sometimes…
It’s frustrating
But sometimes?
It’s actually kind of funny
Final Thought
Even when things don’t go as planned…
There’s usually something to learn (or laugh about)
And sometimes…
