George Washington: First President
July 24, 2026Louisiana has more school choice history than almost any other state. And now… homeschool families finally have a real funding option to use.
Louisiana’s School Choice Background
Louisiana has been a school choice leader since the early 2000s. The Louisiana Scholarship Program, the Tuition Donation Credit Program, and years of legislative effort laid the groundwork for what families can access today.
That foundation matters. Because Louisiana is now home to one of the most exciting ESA programs in the country for homeschool families.
The LA GATOR Program: What It Is and Why It Matters
The Louisiana Granting Accountability for Transformational Opportunities (GATOR) program is Louisiana’s Education Savings Account program.
It gives eligible Louisiana families funds they can use toward approved educational expenses, including homeschool curriculum.
And we are excited to share that A to Z for Moms Like Me curriculum is approved through the GATOR program.
How to Use GATOR Funds for A to Z Curriculum
GATOR funds are managed through Odyssey, one of the approved platforms for the program.
Here’s how it works:
You apply for and receive GATOR funds. You log into your Odyssey account. You find A to Z for Moms Like Me in the approved vendor marketplace. You use your funds to purchase the curriculum that fits your family.
That’s it.
No reimbursement waiting. No out-of-pocket first. Just a straightforward way to use funds that are already yours for your child’s education.
What A to Z Curriculum Is Available Through Odyssey
Our complete grade-level curriculum bundles are available to Louisiana GATOR families through Odyssey.
These include:
Full K–12 grade-level education guides covering all core subjects. Specialized courses including Home Economics, Entrepreneurship, Gardening, and more. Sight words and vocabulary programs for early learners.
If you have questions about which curriculum is the right fit for your child’s grade level or learning style, we are happy to help.
Louisiana Homeschool Law
Louisiana has a well-established framework for homeschooling. Families can homeschool under:
The Home Study Option, operated as a private school. Approval through a church school. An approved correspondence program.
Each option has slightly different record-keeping requirements, but all allow families to choose their own curriculum. A to Z curriculum is designed to work within all of these frameworks.
What Louisiana Families Should Do Next
If you’re already enrolled in the GATOR program, log into your Odyssey account and search for A to Z for Moms Like Me.
If you’re not yet enrolled, visit Louisiana’s official school choice resources or connect with LHEA (Louisiana Home Education Association) to learn about eligibility and how to apply.
GATOR is one of the more accessible ESA programs out there. If Louisiana is your state, this is worth looking into.
