Around our house gingerbread houses are done the easy and cheap way by making them out of graham crackers.
Royal icing recipe:
4 egg whites- beaten until fluffy
4-5 c. powdered sugar
2 t. tarter powder
Mix until light and fluffy.
This frosting will dry hard and act as glue for the gingerbread house.

The kids had a blast making these houses, or was it the loading them up with tons of candy part……

And even though we had a few collapses, for the most part they survived!
