Every conversation I have with someone about homeschooling, it always comes up. This lingering fear and concern. Some parents are afraid to homeschool because of this fear, others are already homeschooling but it’s still a constant concern or worry they have.

Are you ready to know what the #1 Fear/Concern parents have about homeschooling is?

It really has 2 parts:

1- How do I make sure my child learns what they need to learn in their grade level so they don’t fall behind?

This question has a partnering fear where often parents also don’t feel adequate to teach their children because they are not “a teacher”

2- What does my child even need to know for their grade level?

And then there’s always the side shadow concerns and fears about wanting to avoid the stereotypical “homeschool weird kid” that doesn’t know how to socialize, make friends, or even have a normal conversation.

My Answer

First of all, if you are a parent, you are already a teacher! Think about it. By the time your child is even ready for kindergarten you have taught them to walk, talk, feed themselves, dress themselves, potty training (hopefully!), and so much more!

Teaching your children through homeschool is no different. You don’t have to have a degree- heck you don’t even have to have graduated high school! All it takes is a good curriculum, routine, and willingness to put in the time it takes your kids to learn each subject.

Which brings me to my next answer….

Knowing what your child is supposed to learn or know at their age and grade level can be overwhelming. No one wants their kid to be the one that’s left out because they’re just not up to par with their peers.
