We recently had this book sent to us by a friend of mine, and the author- Rochelle Morrison. It’s part of her Bible Heroes series books.

Addie & Bella read the book together and here’s what they said:

Me: Tell me about the book-

Addie: So what happened really at the beginning, but without telling the whole story since it’s long, but at the beginning there’s a boy named Jarom and he sits on the porch of his grandma Love’s house and she saw him and asked what was wrong, he was scared of going to a new school. Grandma Love then told him a story about a kid named David who faced Goliath- a big guy, to save his family. David had faith in God, but Goliath didn’t believe in God. Even though David was tiny he stood up to Goliath and shot some rocks with his slingshot at him and killed Goliath.

Afterwards when grandma Love shared the story Jarom felt better and said he would be brave like David when he goes to school.

Me: What did you learn from the book?

Addie: What I learned is you should always have faith in God, no matter what. And be fearless.

Bella: That you can have faith like David.

Me: Would you want to share this book with your friends?

Both: yeah

My observations:

The book is a easy chapter book for young kids to read. It has some cute illustrations throughout it. The story shares a great moral in an easy to understand way for young kids. Having it as a story within a story they have the opportunity to learn and relate to both Jarom and David.
