Now that we are getting into the swing of things with home school I wanted to have some type of chart my girls could track their time with. Because lets face it, one of the biggest benefits of home school is the flexibility. However, with that flexibility I want to make sure the girls are still getting their school work done each week.
So I ordered this dry erase magnet board from Amazon and attached some vinyl (you could just use markers but I didn’t want to have to worry about redrawing the chart each week.
The magnets we ordered from Amazon as well and I let the girls pick out some pictures online that we printed off and glued to the back of the clear stones, then glued the magnet onto them. This was a fun art project we did together.
I cut the vinyl lettering and lines out with my Silhouette Cameo machine. (seriously, the best investment ever! Any font your computer has you can cut out, see link below on a starter kit that I wish was available when I bought mine)
Now we have a schedule chart where the girls put a magnet on each subject. The clear magnets that we made with the custom pictures & designs they picked out each represent 1 hour of time, the cheap solid plastic magnets represent 30 minutes. Depending on the subject and each girl’s age they have different requirements of how many hours I want them to do each week. (this requirement I wrote with dry erase marker next to each subject for each girl)
During the week, as they complete their time on apps or workbooks etc. they can go put a magnet on the chart. If they choose to do all the week’s required time of one subject in one day that’s fine, as long as they get everything done by the end of the week.
I hope this idea helps others who are looking for a way to track things like I was.
